AAPI Youth Voices Economic Workshops

AAPI Youth Voices Economic Workshop

The field of economics continues to face a significant underrepresentation of women and minorities—an issue even more pronounced than in the broader STEM fields. In Minnesota, only 31% of economics students are women, and just 12% are U.S.-born people of color—with a strikingly low 4% being U.S.-born women of color. While STEM disciplines have shown progress in diversity over time, economics has remained largely stagnant (Bayer & Rouse, 2016; CSWEP, 2018).

AAPI Youth Voices is committed to advancing equity in economics. Through our economic education workshops, we empower youth of all backgrounds to build financial literacy, gain real-world skills, and explore economics as a field where gender and racial diversity are not just encouraged but actively cultivated—starting at every stage of the educational pipeline.
