Empowering Youth Voices at State Capitol

Asian Pacific Minnesotans convened at the Minnesota Capitol on Wednesday to rally together, engage in policymaking discussions, and foster connections with lawmakers.

The event was hosted by the Council on Asian Pacific Minnesotans, which promotes equity for individuals with API Heritage.

Among the speakers were Governor Tim Walz, the Commander of the National Guard, and various legislators and leaders. Emma Yu, the founder of AAPI Youth Voices and a high school sophomore, took the stage to represent Minnesota’s youth and amplify their voices.

“Being the only one under 18 to speak, I recognize the significance of this moment. Addressing legislators and leaders from major nonprofits provides a unique platform for our youth to be heard and acknowledged. “Said Emma Yu.

“We come together as one unified community,” remarked Emma Yu, at the State Capitol, “Asian Americans are American. The history of AAPI encompassing the struggles and ongoing contributions to this nation is an important part of American history.”
